Success at Primary District Swimming Carnival
It made me so proud to hear the achievements of all of our fabulous swimmers at the District carnival in Orange last Wednesday. Coming third as a school is awesome considering the size of our student population, but what makes me even prouder is the comradery our students, parents and teachers present when competing. This was obvious by the photos and reports back from teachers. Congratulations to individuals who made it through to the Regional Carnival, I look forward to hearing of your performances in the next stage, as you take on the best around our region. Thanks Mrs Ebert for coordinating our swimmers on the day and Mrs Quinn who officiated.
Music at MCS
Last Friday it was lovely to see Primary and Secondary students enjoying some live music. Miss McKay has been exploring some great opportunities for our students to perform and watching the way our students responded to the band on Friday, we will continue to highlight a variety of musical items throughout the year at lunchtimes. I am also excited to see our band program continue in the Primary and Miss McKay will look to build on the great work that Mr Irvine has led in previous years.
It was also an enjoyable afternoon on Saturday watching our students perform in a rock band called The Objections. The band opened the Beach to Bush, at Northcourt Orange, which was organised by Orange City Council, Jam Orange & PCYC. It was great to see so many members of the Molong Community get behind the band and we are looking forward to watching their development.
Parent Helpers at MCS
We are so fortunate to have such wonderful parent helpers at MCS. We see this support at sporting events, but I would also like to thank our regular classroom helpers who contribute to our classes on a weekly basis. Parent support compliments what our teachers are able to provide to our students and last week I had the privilege to see the delight this interaction bought to both a student and a volunteer parent, when a wonderful piece of art was presented to me last week. It is the support of our parent body and our close-knit community that ensure all students reach their potential.
NAPLAN 2020 Dates
Our students in Year 3,5,7 and 9 will participate in NAPLAN practice tests to help familiarise all students with the online environment. This will occur on the 23rd of March. The NAPLAN tests will occur between the 12th and the 22nd of May. If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please contact Mrs Griffith or Mrs Honeyman who will be able to give you further details.
Rural Cup 2020
Students in the Secondary have been trying out for Rural Cup teams. The Rural Cup is a three-way competition between Canowindra High School, Oberon High School and Molong Central School. It’s a fabulous competition which our students look forward to playing in each year. The first round of the Rural Cup is in Oberon and we are hoping we go one step closer to bringing home the cup in 2020.
