SSATIS Australian Rules Football Gala Afternoon
On Friday 1 November, 13 students from Years 7 and 8 participated in the SSATIS Australian Rules Football Gala Afternoon at Bell Street. Conditions were hot, but the athleticism of the team shone out.
With some beginners and some more experienced players, the team gelled early and had strong wins in their opening games on the larger ground. Game three was a nail biter, with the winner progressing to the Grand Final. Unfortunately Dominic scored a goal late in the game to progress, with Mount Carmel advancing to the playoff for 3rd place. But the best was yet to come, as the team finished on a high, with a commanding win against Friends’ to finish 3rd.
It was a fantastic day, and the team are to be commended on their effort and sportsmanship. Congratulations to Sacred Heart who was the overall winner. Following the success over two years of gala afternoons, SSATIS are now offering a Girls Year 7/8 Australian Rules Football competition in Term 4 2020, on Thursday afternoons.

JSSATIS Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to the Mount Carmel Primary Athletics team who competed at their first inter-school event today at the Domain Athletics Centre. The JSSATIS Athletics Carnival brings together the Independent Primary Schools for a range of track and field events.
Next Friday, the team will return to the Domain to compete again in a slightly different format, against the Catholic Primary Schools at the STCPSSA Athletics Carnival, which was postponed from last Friday.
Early Years Athletics Carnival
The Kinder, Prep, Year 1 and 2 students will have their turn at athletics next Wednesday, following the postponement of this week’s Mount Carmel Early Years Athletics Carnival at Sandown Park.
Excitement is buzzing as they prepare to compete for their houses in a range of running, throwing and novelty events in their year groups. Hopefully the weather will be fine next week and the students will enjoy a great day of athletic activity.
