Class 15

Class 15 have had an exciting and busy start to the year! We're lucky to have a few new students to our school and it's been wonderful to see the focus and creativity of everyone in class 15. Our Science and Art projects, in particular, have been shining examples of this. Class 15 have also been working hard across other subjects and have shown great team work skills and perseverance in sports and classroom games. Keep up the great work class 15!

Class 14

This week Class 14 have started working on the learning goals created in their PLP meetings.  Students also had their first visit to the Skills House where they were taught and had opportunities to practice folding towels, wiping benches, paper cutting and laminating.

Class 16

Class 16 have been learning more about AUSLAN. Some new signs they have learnt are 'help', 'thank you' and 'good morning everyone'. Caiden celebrated his 14th birthday last week and shared some delicious cupcakes with his friends. We have had a focus on healthy eating and remembering to wash our hands throughout the day.

Stage 5

It was great chatting to all our families over the last couple of weeks to get to know our students a little better, while setting some great learning goals. The last few weeks have seen whole school sport resume for the year, pottery with Mr Windsor and the reopening of the refurbished Skills House. Class 9 have continued exploring the nature of forces and motion, as well as matter and energy in Science. There have been lots of laughs along the way! Learning can be so fun!

Introducing Class 7...

In History Class 7 has been learning about World War 1 and the significance of Anzac Day. We read the story ‘Anzac Ted’ and completed an artwork of this brave teddy bear. We also followed a recipe to make Anzac biscuits. Yum, they were delicious!

Campus

We would like to welcome a new teacher to the Campus team. Ms. Catherine Mortimer joins our team 3 days a week. Ms Mortimer is working with Class 17 and the Return to School program. She brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to teaching and we are very excited to have her as part of the team.

We are enjoying the beautiful weather and the wonderful playground on the Campus. There have been equal amounts of active play and quiet relaxing in the gorgeous shade at break times. The colours of the Campus are very inspiring at the moment. Who said blue and green should never be seen??

Cooking has been a huge part of learning on the Campus. Class 18 have made some beautiful dishes,  including whole snapper as well as gluten-free spaghetti bolognese. The students used fresh tomatoes from Mrs Griffen's garden as well as herbs from the garden beds on-site.

Colour is appearing in our Art as well!

We are also very excited about planning our winter crops. Students are researching the right vegetables to plant at this time of the year and we are looking forward to getting some composting worms for the Subpod - an 'in-garden' composting worm farm.

Watch this space to see what grows!!!
