Ms Noelene Hussey

Dear Families

It is hard to believe that we are in the final week of 2021 and our school year ends tomorrow. When I think about this year, I am very proud of our community and the way we all met the demands of lockdown and remote learning and have been adaptable and flexible to overcome the many challenges we all faced and may still be facing. When I read through our children’s reports the thing that struck me the most was the honesty of our older children’s self reflections.  They mentioned that they were able to overcome difficulties when they were learning remotely. They learnt to be resilient and independent. They learnt to take risks, think creatively and problem solve. It is a credit to our children for the way they have bounced back after having the past two years learning remotely and missing out on time spent with their friends and teachers.

Congratulations to all our children on the way they participated in our Christmas celebration and I hope you enjoyed the recording of your children singing their Christmas Carols.  Thank you to Elizabeth Grieves for organising the day. Hopefully next year we can celebrate Christmas together as a school community

Congratulations to our Year 6 children who will graduate tonight (Tuesday). We are very proud of them, especially this year where they accepted that many Year 6 highlights could not take place and were very resilient in the way they accepted these setbacks.  We wish them well in their future studies and endeavours. This is always a very special celebration for our children and families as we say goodbye for the final time. Thank you to our Year 6 teachers and Simon Maltese for organising the celebration and the liturgy the children participated in during the day.

We will have our Thanksgiving Liturgies tomorrow (Wednesday). It is unfortunate that parents cannot attend but you will all be in our prayers as we thank you for all your support this year. Our children have brought home all their school books so they do not need to bring a bag to school on Wednesday.

I would like to thank all members of the St Anne’s school community for your support during 2021. It has been a pleasure working with you this year and celebrating the successes of your children.

I hope you have a very restful and peaceful Christmas so you can enjoy the festive season. You all deserve it after a year where we had so many ‘downs’. Enjoy your holidays with your family and make sure you relax and enjoy our summer weather. If you are traveling stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all again at the end of January.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members of our School Advisory Board and PFTA for all your hard work and what you have contributed to our school. Unfortunately many events that the PFTA had organised were cancelled so we look forward to 2022 where many exciting events have been planned.

Our School Advisory Board has assisted us with their input into planning and supporting the decisions to ensure our school continues to make improvements. I would like to thank our two members who are retiring from our SAB - Kate Medhurst and Emily Ballenden. I thank them for their tireless work, their ideas and perspectives on how we can best support our children and families.  .

Thank you to our families who are leaving St Anne’s at the end of this year. Some families have been with us for over 20 years. We wish you all the best and thank you for the contributions you have made to our school.

Thank you to our dedicated staff who strive to meet the needs of the children in their class. I can’t thank you enough for your enthusiasm, hard work, care and support to ensure our children love coming to school each day.

Finally, thank you to our children for the respect they have shown one another and their teachers. Our children have worked hard this year and have achieved great results. They certainly deserve their Christmas break. I thank them for their cheery smiles and always trying to do their best. I wish our Year 6 students all the best at their new schools next year and their future years at secondary school.

To all our community - Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas

Ms Noelene Hussey

Our children met their new teachers and classmates last Thursday. There was a great sense of excitement and anticipation by both children and teachers. When we place children in classes we always look at academic ability, social and emotional wellbeing and then friendships. A lot of time and effort has gone into placing children in their 2022 classes. The teachers were all pleased with their new classes and are looking forward to working with them throughout next year.
