Manchester City/Parade College Soccer Clinics

St Raphael's has been very fortunate to be one of three schools selected to take part in a weekly soccer clinic with Manchester City F.C. and Parade College. These clinics will take place every Friday from 9.30 - 10.30 at Parade College's Preston campus. There is a limit of 20 students per school who can attend so our head of soccer, Mr Allan, is currently trialing those interested during lunch times in order to find the 20 most suitable students to take to the clinics. It is open to Year 4 - 6 boys and girls and will be the same students each week who attend the clinic.

This is an extremely exciting opportunity for the school to be involved in, with Manchester City being one of the biggest sporting franchises in the world. This is the only Manchester City Football School outside of England and it continues the close partnership that St Raphael's has with Parade College. We are very grateful for their ongoing support and providing our children with access to world class coaching and facilities.

Year 1/2 Physical Education

So far this term the 1/2's have been practicing activities that promote their ability to follow instructions and spacial awareness. We have also been focussing on teamwork and working together through the main activity in each lesson. Over the next two weeks the students will continue to be exposed to activities and games that promote both spacial awareness and teamwork.

Years 3 - 6 Physical Education

In preparation for the school athletics trials, on Friday March 11 at Coburg Athletics track, the students have been practising the long jump. After watching two videos which highlighted the important technical components of the jump, the students then got to go out and put in place what they had learned. Most of the children did very well applying what they had learnt and most importantly had a great time doing it!

This week we are practising the triple jump which is obviously far more technical than the long jump, however by breaking it down into its separate components the students should hopefully get a good grasp of it. In any case, they will no doubt have a lot of fun trying!

Year 3 - 6 Athletic Trials

A permission note for the athletics trials on Friday March 11 has been sent out via Operoo, please respond before next Friday March 4. In order to run all the events we do need some volunteers to help out on the day, if you are in a position to do this your assistance would be greatly appreciated. As a volunteer we do ask that you are triple vaccinated in line with the current regulations regarding teachers and staff.
