University of Melbourne Newman College Visit 

Newman College is a residential college of the University of Melbourne.

A representative from Newman College will be visiting Mater Dei at Recess on Monday 13 May.

Any student that is interested in the University of Melbourne and is looking at accommodation options should attend this event. Please RSVP to Mr O'Connell by Friday 10 May. Parents are also welcome.

 

Eyes Wide open Health Careers Information Evening

Eyes Wide Open is a Riverina based initiative run by medical students and alumni from the Wagga Wagga Campus of UNSW’s Rural Clinical School.

Eyes Wide Open aims to provide local Riverina high school students with the opportunity to learn about potential future career pathways in medicine, nursing and allied health. By utilising local students and experienced professionals Eyes Wide Open provides up to date information and real life examples, motivating and empowering high school students to consider tertiary education and healthcare careers in the bush. See below for further details:

 

 

UNSW Rural Clinical School Medicine Information Evening

UNSW Rural Clinical School are holding an information evening for senior school students considering a career in Medicine. Parents are welcome. Find out information on UCAT, application processes, interview processes and listen to current medicine students talk about their pathway. This is highly recommended for any student that is interested in studying Medicine.

ASD Cyber Security and Robotics Work Experience Program

When - 8 - 12 July 2019

Where - Australian Public Service, Canberra

The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is the national authority for information security and through its Work Experience Program offers students from Years 11-12 an opportunity to extend their knowledge and skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), with a focus on information/cyber security.

 

Students undertaking the ASD Work Experience Program will be required to work in a team and are mentored throughout the program by experienced security professionals from ASD who have a high level of expertise in their field. This placement demands strong interest and a high level of competency in mathematics, ICT, engineering or science (STEM). Students applying to participate should be excelling in one or more of these areas and have a sound computing and programming background.

 

 

At the completion of the ASD Work Experience Program, students will present their achievements to mentors, work experience coordinators/teachers, parents and ASD leadership.

Students interested in this program are encouraged to discuss their placement with their STEM teachers or careers advisor.

Students may apply for multiple placements but can only attend the program once.
