Georgia King

Hi Maffra! My name is Georgia King and I am excited to start my time at Maffra Secondary College teaching VCE OES, HHD, Duke of Ed and 7 & 8 Health PE. I am very passionate about the outdoors and spend a lot of my down time exploring various outdoor environments with my husband and my two huskies. I have spent the past eight years teaching at Sale College building a wonderful outdoor education program and looking forward to building on Maffra’s.

Aaron Johnson
Aaron Johnson

Hi everyone, my name is Aaron Johnson! I’ve been a teacher for a couple years, teaching students about the worlds of mathematics and computer technologies. Before teaching, I spent some time working as a software engineer for a robotics company, while also studying computer software development. Outside of teaching I enjoy creating different forms of art, designing and 3D printing objects and developing small video games. I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Rebecca Jackson
Rebecca Jackson

Hello Maffra! My name is Rebecca Jackson and I am very excited to join the Maffra Secondary College team. Originally hailing from the Great White North, I have called Australia home for the last fifteen years. I love all things vintage, including my 74 Kombi, have an affinity for bright colours and have been known to sing while I work. Did I mention that I sing very badly?

My teaching career is entering its tenth year. As an educator, I believe that with the right support and guidance, all children can learn and reach their goals. I want to empower our young people to believe in themselves and become life-long learners. It has been a challenging couple of years for our children, hopefully 2022 will bring stability back into our lives and put the learning journey back into the classroom. Let’s get 2022 started!

Hi, I am Sarah Schellen and I have come across to Maffra Secondary College from Heyfield Primary School, where I taught for the past 13 years in grades 4,5 & 6. My roles at HPS included being a classroom teacher, literacy leader, learning specialist and maths specialist. This year I will be taking 7C & 7D for English and Humanities.

A little bit about me…

I am a former Maffra Secondary College student, where I completed Year 7 – Year 12. I then went on to complete a Bachelor of Education - Prep to Year 10 at University.

In my spare time, I enjoy netball, gardening, spending time with family and friends and of course travelling. I love to learn, and I am really looking forward to working with all the students, parents, and staff of Maffra Secondary College.

Hi Maffra! My name is Miss Jessica Sabourne, I am joining your school as a Health/PE and Mathematics teacher. I have eight years of teaching experience and I’m excited to continue my passion for education at Maffra Secondary College.

I have recently moved to Sale all the way from the Southwest of Western Australia. My fiancé is an Officer in the Royal Australian Navy and we have been posted to Sale. We are excited to explore the Gippsland area; any suggestions are welcome.

I have three brothers and growing up all we did was play sport, I love bringing this passion to my job. I am ready to talk all things AFL and yes, my team is the West Coast Eagles.

Katelyn Ross

Hello! I am new to the Gippsland area having lived in East Melbourne my entire life. When I was in high school I undertook VCE psychology and immediately fell in love and very quickly it became my favorite subject. I went onto University where I studied a bachelor’s degree majoring in psychology. I knew I enjoyed helping people, giving back to the community and working with the future generations so I thought the perfect way to combine all my interests was to become a teacher. My favourite area of psychology is child and adolescent development. In my spare time I enjoy watching tv shows and playing videos games. I am looking forward to exploring the Gippsland region 😊

She has a great love of the schooling environment and of family with her own 3 children and 6 grandchildren and is happy to be known as ‘Nenek Poppy’ while at school.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to me share my knowledge, & experiences and hopefully be an inspiration to my ‘grandkids’ at MSC for your coming future.”
