Principal's Message
Term 4 Week 11
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and positivity across again one of the most challenging of years. As we returned to onsite and to support our students we were determined to hold many of our events with the priority on Senior Production, Graduation and 3/4 Camp. It turns out we were able to hold these and more including the 5/6 Camp, 1/2 Celebration Day, Foundation 100 Days, and Walking Excursion. It's not all about the events of course, but they sure do help connect us and motivate students.
We have been very fortunate as one of the few schools that have not had to respond to a positive case of COVID 19. Even so, please see the following information on how to notify the school of a positive COVID case up until Thursday 23rd December.
We have a number of staff leaving the school and want to thank Erin Robinson, Lauren Tillotson and Emily Embery who have stepped into MPRPS and will be remembered for their resilience and enthusiasm across Remote Learning and then back to onsite teaching. Erin has shared her passion for Visual Arts with the students and staff and the Term 4 creations are a testament to her talent. Lauren has stepped into teach 1/2 with Mel Seadon and has ensured students continued to receive the support and teaching they required. Emily has shared her passion for PE and Health and has been an incredible support to our PE program; redeveloping our PMP program that we are looking forward to continuing next year.
We also wish Cathy Adamopoulos all the best as she finishes at MPRPS. Cathy has supported students in the Junior School in her role as an Educational Support Staff member. She has also provided our school with brand new couch covers for every couch in the school and created clever weighted blankets and toys.
Finally, we would like to wish Julie Mann from the Kindergarten the very best as she retires. Julie has been at MPRPS for 12 years. From leading the OSH Club to working in the Kinder, she has been an important part of our community. We will miss her 'can do' attitude, positivity and the care she has shown to students and staff.
Our regular student publication, Pleasant News, will be shared in the classrooms with students and published online. Please see the publication for a review of the term's events and student achievements.
If you, your child, or a family member develops symptoms of COVID-19, you should get tested at a COVID-19 testing facility and stay home. Each family should regularly check the list of public exposure sites in Victoria, and if anyone in the family has attended a site at the times listed, follow the instructions given.
If your child or a family member tests positive to COVID-19 you must contact the school immediately. Presently if a child is a positive case, or an educational contact of a positive case, they must isolate for seven days.
As we move into holidays, notification of a positive case must be given via the school email address at mt.pleasant.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au. This email address will be monitored carefully until 23rd December as instructed by DET and Department of Health.

We will be trialling a change to our recess and lunch times in 2022 to further support our Sunsmart Policy. From Term 1 2022:
Students in Foundation will be provided with additional eating time and all students are encouraged to take out their remaining food to eat in the courtyard.
We will trial this in Term 1 2022 before gathering feedback from staff and students before proceeding with any changes for the remainder of the year.
