IMPORTANT INFORMATION

School Photo Day 2022

Annual school photos including sibling photos will be taken at Surf Coast Secondary College by Arthur Reed Photos on Tuesday 22nd February 2022.

There is no need to return any forms or money to school.

Unique image codes will be issued to all students on/after photo day so families can register online to view images when they become available in the webshop. Registration is simple, just follow the 3 simple steps on your child’s personalised flyer once you receive it and remember to add the codes for all your children attending this school.

Even if you registered last year, it’s important that you do again this year using your child’s 2022 image code to link their images for the current year with your contact details.

When images are ready to view and in the webshop, all parents who have registered will be notified by SMS and email.

Once registered, please wait for notification that 2022 images are online to view before making your purchase.

New College Hoodie Jumper Coming Term Two

During 2021, the College listened to feedback from our students that they did not like the current hooded jumper design that is part of the active uniform.  The material was not desirable or the cut of the neckline.  In collaboration with our uniform supplier, PSW, students chose a new design and material which was presented to the School Council for approval.

Please see the image of our new College Hoodie here!

The hoodie is in production currently and will be available for purchase either later in term one or early term 2 at both PSW in Geelong or at Surf Coast School Stuff….just in time for the cooler weather.

The current design will be phased out over time but will still be accepted as a uniform item.  The original hoodie has been heavily discounted to assist with the remaining stock being sold.

Face mask provision for our COVID Safe school community

As you would be aware, the wearing of face masks by staff and students is required in secondary schools in Victoria.

Students are required to wear a face mask indoors when at school at all times. Outdoors and when eating and drinking, students may remove their mask, but are encouraged to still wear one as a protective measure when they cannot maintain physical distancing of 1.5m.

Staff are also expected to wear a mask except when they are engaging in direct teaching and care for communication purposes.

Please ensure that your child/ren have their own mask with them at school at all times. Whilst the College does have a supply of face masks, this is not enough to provide a mask for all students, let alone daily. There have been a number of students arriving at school without a face mask this week who have been presenting to the Administration Office to ask for one to be provided.

We ask that the community supports this COVID Safe measure in our school by ensuring that your child has a face mask with them on a daily basis at school.

From Monday 07 February, the College commenced making calls to parents of students who present at school requiring a face mask.

Approvals for mask exemptions must be submitted to the Principal at Erin.Wright@education.vic.gov.au. If a child does not have a noted mask exemption, the expectation will be that they are wearing one at school.

All parents and visitors to the College will also be required to comply with mask wearing indoors. We appreciate your support in ensuring that our community is COVID Safe.

Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund Applications

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.

If you have a valid means-tested concession card, such as a Veterans Affairs Gold Card, Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible. There is also a special consideration category for asylum seeker and refugee families.

The payment amount this year is $225 for eligible secondary school students. Payments are made direct to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions and sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

It is important that funding made available in 2022 supports students to participate in school trips, camps and sporting activities this year rather than being held for future years. This funding can also be used in conjunction with any funding accrued from previous years.  Please note these activities will only take place if they meet COVID Safe requirements.

If you applied for CSEF through our school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year, unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.

If you would like to apply for the first time, please visit the College’s website at www.surfcoastsecondarycollege.vic.edu.au and download an application form from the Enrolments page. You can also download the form, and find out more about the program and eligibility, on the Department of Education and Training’s Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund web page.

If you have any questions regarding the Camps, Sports & Excursion Fund please contact us on 5261 6633.

Secondary School Immunisation Program

The secondary school immunisation program offers free vaccines provided by the National Immunisation Program each year to students in Year 7 and Year 10. The local council immunisation service visits the school to provide the vaccination program.

Look out for the information and consent form

Parents/guardians of students in Year 7 and Year 10 should look out for the vaccine information and consent form coming home from school with your child. You need to read the information, complete, and return the consent form. If you choose not to consent for your child to be vaccinated as part of the school-based immunisation program, you also need to return the consent form.

Students who missed school vaccines due to COVID-19 pandemic

Some students now in Year 8 and Year 11 may need to complete their vaccine program this year to catch-up the missed vaccines. The local council immunisation service will advise parents/guardians and work with the school to deliver any catch-up vaccines due to students.

What do I need to know?

Students who are identified as due or overdue for vaccination on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) will be eligible to receive ‘catch-up’ immunisations.

  • If your child has since received their vaccines please contact the Surf Coast Shire , Immunisation service on ph.  or email]. Please make sure your immunisation provider has reported the vaccination to the Australian Immunisation Register.
  • The consent that you provided last year for the school-based immunisation program remains valid and you do not need to complete another consent form.
  •  You will be informed when the school vaccination day will be held.
  •  You can contact Surf Coast Shire immunisation service on (03) 5261 0505 to discuss any changes to your child’s health that you think could be relevant for their suitability for vaccination or should you need to withdraw consent.
  • You may check your child’s immunisation history statement on the Australian Immunisation Register using your MyGov account. For privacy reasons, anyone aged 14 or older will need to access their own immunisation history statement through their own MyGov account or the Medicare mobile app.

Sick Bay

If a student is feeling unwell, to keep in line with the Department of Education & Training's Mobile Phone Policy, students are required to go to the Administration Office where a trained First Aid Officer will provide assistance and call parents/guardians if they are too unwell to remain at school and need to go home.

Please note, that the school will only call parents/guardians in regards to an unwell child. The school will never send a text message to advise that their child is unwell and requires collection.

If you have any questions regarding the above or other queries, please call our Administration Team on (03) 5261 6633.

DET Mobile Phone Policy Reminder
