Wednesday Water Day

We are excited about our whole school celebration next Wednesday, when we all go to Coburg Olympic Swimming Pool on Murray Road. The weather forecast shows that it looks to be a warm and overcast day, which should be perfect for a day at the pool! In order to ensure everyone has a fun and safe time, we ask that you please read the following information.

What do we pack?

Please make sure your children are set up for a sunsafe day at the pool.

Bathers & rashie/t-shirt

Hat

Towel

Spare clothes/underwear

Plastic bag

Water bottle

Lunch

Snacks

Money for tuck shop

Books

Cards

I'm worried about safety...

Between school and pool staff, our ratio supports water safety for children, but we always welcome additional adults to attend, especially if your child is less confident in the water. We have a few different pools of different depths and all students are briefed on the rules to maintain a safe environment for everyone.

All students must wear a sun safe hat when not in the pool and a rashie/t-shirt that covers their shoulders and stomach at all times. The school will provide sunscreen (though you are free to bring your own) and all students will be expected to reapply sunscreen every hour, checked by their classroom teacher.

Students should bring a water bottle, snacks and lunch - there is a tuck shop, but the line is long and the food is pricey! Students must not share food at the pool.

Please do not bring any pool toys or water guns to the pool as they present a safety concern for one of our students. The pool will have water guns at the inflatable and the school will provide buckets for water play.

Can we come?

Parents and carers are all invited to join our celebrations at the pool for all or part of the day, as long as Keir, Hannah or a member of the front office has sighted your current and valid working with children check and full COVID vaccination certificate. Family members will be given a wrist band to indicate that both requirements have been met - we ask you to wear this when you are at the pool. As the event will be predominantly outdoors, masks are not required unless inside a building or on the bus.

There are only limited seats available on our buses, so we ask that families make their own way to the pool if possible.
