Secondary News

In Weeks 3 and 4, our Secondary students have continued to establish their familiar routines and enrich in positive working partnerships with their staff and peers. It has been really pleasing to see, with our revised class structures this term, our staff have adapted well and provided the necessary support for our students to begin to settle and engage in their learning. Our students demonstrate how well they can interact with each other in the playground, including looking after each other the way we all hoped.
Our 'Hands-On Learning (HOL) Build and Cafe Programs' are up and running.
Whilst we are yet to appoint a teacher for the Cafe Program, students are working on developing the key skills to then conduct the full program later in this term. Karen Glare, our Community Support Officer, has been an amazing support to facilitate this program whilst we are in the transition phase of appointing a teacher to this role. Thank you, Karen!
We are also pleased to see that our 'Coffee Cart Program' will be up and running one day a week, commencing in Week 6. At this stage, we plan for our trained students to conduct the program with our staff to support. We look forward to training up more of our students very soon.
Our students attending offsite programs, such as 'Kangan TAFE and VET at Hume Valley School', are preparing to commence these programs in Week 5. Having the additional support of our wonderful Education Support staff, we hope that they will be able to engage with the learning modules planned, aiming to refine their skills and ultimately complete their final units prior to the end of 2022.
As you can see, plenty is happening in our Secondary Sub School this term. We look forward to keeping you up to date with the many successes along the way!
