Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting

Daniel Moloney
Assistant Principal
Hi everyone!
As we progress further into 2022, we hope that, with further consistency of teaching and learning at school, we will be able to more effectively assess, plan and deliver your child's learning with the individualised supports they need. With a key strategic focus on our students' 'readiness to learn', we endeavour to understand how to support each child to greater effect. Your role as parents and caregivers, in sustaining regular communication and attending scheduled SSGs, is critical in streamlining these plans for your child throughout their learning in 2022. Naturally, we encourage you to sustain a positive working partnership with your child's teacher as every other year.
Term 1 PLSPs and XUNO Parent Portal
Your child's teachers are busy collecting important data to assess your children to develop purposeful learning goals for the semester ahead. This term, rather than sending you our child's PLSP via email, we will be upgrading our processes to provide you with access to your child's PLSP via the XUNO Parent Portal (online version and via the XUNO Parent App).
In the coming weeks, we will be sending you out a welcome email for you to quickly set up your account with a personalised password. We are currently trialling this process internally to refine the interface for our community.
The larger plan is to allow you to access the Parent Portal for a range of important school-based documentation and information relevant to your child throughout their learning journey. WATCH THIS SPACE.
Mini Olympics
This coming Monday 28th February, Kaboom Kids Sports are conducting a sports incursion program with our students on Playground 6. Our students will need to wear their house colours, a sun hat and sunscreen in the warm weather. They are looking forward to having a go at 8 fun activities such as the Giant Sticky-Ball Dart Board, Circus Skills, Fruit Cushion Frisbee, Spyda Ball and Balance Beam Bonanza and more.
Whilst parents/carers are not attending this event, we assure you that plenty of photos of the day will be uploaded to Seesaw and Facebook for you to view. A wonderful day ahead!
National Anti-Bullying Day
As our JSA Bullying Prevention Policy states, 'we are committed to providing a safe and respectful learning environment where bullying will not be tolerated'. On Friday March 18th, it is National Anti-Bullying Day. JSA is registered to participate in the day to educate our community around what bullying is and to send out the strong message that 'bullying is not okay'.
Our Student Engagement Team and Student Leadership will be overseeing schoolwide communication and any other activities for students to undertake on the day.
JSA School Website Upgrade
We are currently seeking quotes from multiple providers to upgrade our school website. New photography, graphics and provision for multi-lingual access to information to meet the needs of our JSA community are the key focuses for our upgrade. Our plan is to have all upgrades completed by the end of Term 2, prior to our next school review in Term 3. Exciting times ahead.
