An Update from Deb Kirk

Teaching and Learning

All students in Year 7-10 will complete an online reading comprehension and maths assessment this week. The tests will take place in session 1 on Tuesday and session 1 on Wednesday. The tests allow teachers to make informed decisions about curriculum and cater to the diverse needs of our students. The data also allows the school to tailor programs to meet the needs of learners and identify students who may need support or extension through programs such as EAGLE, MYLNS, High Abilities and the Tutor Learning Initiative.

Students who do not have a device, or who are absent, will have an opportunity to complete the assessments next week.

Students in Year 11 will complete their assessment in week 3.

Home Learning Support

Home Learning Support runs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3.15 – 4.15 in B13 for any student requiring additional support with home learning tasks or wanting a quiet place to study. All students are encouraged to attend as needed.

ICT Tools at Beaumaris Secondary College – Parent Information Evening

We hope to be able to offer our Year 7 parents and new parents to the Beaumaris community the opportunity to participate in ICT tools sessions onsite in the next few weeks, pending DET COVID Operational Guidelines. The session will introduce parents to the Microsoft 365 platform and provide them with an understanding of how Teams, OneNote, Compass and Education Perfect are used for teaching and learning and assessment and reporting at the college.
