Mrs. Karen Gordon - Director of Co-curricular Music / Coordinator of Strings

Co-curricular Music

All private tuition and music ensemble rehearsals have now commenced, and it has been lovely to welcome our new and old musicians! Please remember to note down important performance dates for the year ahead.  Please see the Performance Calendar for the year on the College app under the "Culture" tile.

With the new school bell times, our rehearsal schedule has changed slightly. Please check start and end times carefully (see Rehearsal Schedule). If students have clashes with sport or any other activity, please email the relevant teacher/s so that we can find a solution. Please see the Rehearsal Schedule for Term 1on the College app under the "Culture" tile.

2022 Private Music Tuition

We offer private specialist tuition for the following instrument groups: Piano (from Year 2), Strings (from Year 3), Band (from Year 5), and Vocal (from Year 6).

Any student wishing to apply for Private Music Tuition can submit the following online Application form, to be completed by a Parent or Caregiver. Tuition fees, terms, and conditions are communicated in the form, accessibly via the button below.

Australian Honours Ensemble Program

Nominations are now open for students who wish to audition for the Australian Honours Ensemble Program (AHEP). If you are interested and eligible (please see criteria below), please email Mrs. Karen Gordon at kgordon@clayfield.qld.edu.au.

Nomination Criteria

  • Strings and Wind instruments: Must have reached AMEB Grade 6 (or equivalent) or above
  • Vocalists: Must be at a minimum AMEB Grade 4 (or equivalent) and have high-level choral experience
  • Audition: All nominees must be able to submit an audition video. Audition requirements and instructions will be emailed to nominated students after the closing date

Students who are unsuccessful in their audition for AHEP will then be considered for one of the ensembles within SHEP Queensland and their nomination will be transferred over. Students that you have nominated for AHEP do not need to also be nominated for SHEP QLD unless it is for a different instrument. Information about nominating students for SHEP QLD will be sent at a later date.

The closing date for nominations is Friday 25 February.
