STRENGTH, COURAGE AND DETERMINATION

Over the past weeks my TV viewing has been consumed by tennis, cricket, soccer, basketball… then back to cricket and then some more tennis. Unfortunately, I haven’t watched any games live but I am thankful for the hours of television coverage- I wonder if you feel the same?

As I watched these athletes, I was amazed at their strength, determination and courage. Rafael Nadal and his opponent Daniil Medvedev slugging it out for over 5 hours in super muggy conditions. Sam Kerr and her Matilda opponents running close to 11 kilometres in a soccer match. Or Alyssa Healy and Scott Boland padded up and facing temperatures of 40 degrees+.

Mrs Leila Mattner shared at Chapel this morning the story of Daniel and the Lion’s Den. As I listened to her message, I was reminded of the strength, determination and courage of Daniel. Daniel continued to pray and believe in God even when those around him didn’t. Daniel trusted in the almighty power and strength of God so much that he jumped into a lion’s den knowing that he would be protected. Pretty amazing!

I am surprised at the strength of professional athletes; however my greatest astonishment continues to be the strength, power and love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

My prayer for you as we start this new year is that you know God’s strength and that He will always go with you.
