Kapa Haka Inter-School Day:

The Year 5 and 6 children in our school, Kapa Haka ropu, attended a one-day wānanga at Rānui Primary last week. We were welcomed with a powhiri and powerful singing into their hall and spent the day learning, and meeting new people.
Our students had workshops on the patu, mōteatea (chants), learning a haka, playing the game Ki-o-rahi, and raranga (weaving). We had a delicious hangi for lunch. Our students made us proud with the respect they showed and their positive attitudes to learning new things.
A huge thank you to Mr Anton Vera, student-teacher in Room 20, who took the Ki-o-rahi workshop for the groups.
The event organiser shared her highlights of the day:
Our kaiako who facilitated our workshops with enthusiasm, how awesome you all were.
