Performing Arts

On Monday 21st November at 2pm, The Heathmont chapter of ‘Sing Australia’ will be attending Great Ryrie Primary School to perform for our students. This will be a fun and interactive event, that promotes wellbeing through singing.

There is no cost related to this event.

Sing Australia is a national organisation with more than 80 groups spread across Australia.  The organisation has over 2,000 members who simply enjoy singing. The Heathmont Chapter of ‘Song Australia’ is conducted by Laura Martin (our own amazing singing teacher) and accompanied by William Schmidt.  Sing Australia has been active in the community since April 2006 and are available for corporate, club, retirement village, aged care facilities, school fetes or any other functions.  They meet on a Wednesday night at the Heathmont Uniting Church 89 Canterbury Rd at 7.30 PM.

We believe that everyone can sing. Yes, even those who have been told “don’t give up your day job”.  There is no need to be able to read music nor is there any requirement to have been a singer in the past.  Less than 20% of our members can read music and even less have had a singing lesson at any time in their life.

We believe in the health and social benefits promoted by coming together just to sing and have fun.

We have more than 300 songs in our repertoire from a range of genres.  These include, but not limited to:

  • Musicals,
  • Popular
  • Celtic
  • Australian

New members are welcome.  There are no age restrictions in Sing Australia so, why not come to a rehearsal and give singing a chance to enhance your life. To arrange your 2 free rehearsals or for more information contact:

THE 5/6 FACTOR

The 5/6 Factor is an inter-class competition where each grade was tasked to create a performance based on a theme or storyline (of their choosing). Each performance had to include all elements of Performing Arts – music, drama, dance and media. The students created and edited their own sound tracks, props, costumes, choreography etc. It was an epic process and lead to some very entertaining performances.

CONGRATULATIONS to 5B, who took out 1st place in the inter-class performance competition 'The 5/6 Factor'.
