YEAR 5 - Aussie Wildlife Display
On Wednesday the 19th October, the Year 5 students were fortunate to have a visit from Aussie Wildlife Displays as part of their science study into animal adaptations. Students met many different animals and were encourage to touch / handle the animals. Daniel from Aussie Wildlife introduced each animal and explained how they have adapted to their individual environment – they varied from structural, behavioural and environmental adaptations.
The animals displayed included Tabitha – Black Head Python, Susie - Pigmy Python, Alaska - Albino Python, Matilda - Squirrel Glider, Acorn -Shingleback Lizard, Phillapa -Eclectus Parrot, Splash – Freshwater Crocodile and Ally - Wombat.
The students came away from the visit with more information and knowledge about how various types of wildlife have adapted to their environment or how they survive in the wild.
YEAR 1 - MELBOURNE ZOO
What a fabulous day Year 1 had at the Zoo yesterday! Despite the consistent rain, students kept up great spirits and had a wonderful day exploring. They visited the 'Wild Lab', posing questions, investigating and discussing the specimens and toys available to them for learning through play. We saw elephants and monkeys, meercats and sooo many of us were lucky enough to have a butterfly take a ride on our arms or shoulders - super fun! Big thanks to the wonderful parents who helped us enjoy our day.
