Merricks Lodge Camp
Last week, our Grade 3 cohort were fortunate enough to go on school camp to Merricks Lodge. We had the most amazing time and we are extremely proud of each and every single student who attended camp as they ALL stepped out of their comfort zones in many different ways.
We started off our camp down at Balnarring Beach where the sun was shining, and we saw several dolphins out in the bay. We participated in many different activities like, beach games, orienteering, kite making, initiatives, archery and we think it is fair to say that canoeing was by far a favourite activity. A lot of the students were anxious about canoeing, but they all jumped in, had a go, splashed each other, as well as the teachers and had lots of fun and laughs.
We held a trivia night after dinner, which was great fun. One of the sections was music and we witnessed some of the best dance moves we have seen from our students, as well as Miss Wainwright jumping up in front of everyone and doing the worm.
We were extremely lucky with the weather for the whole time we were away. The sun was shining the entire time, and we only received a couple of spots of rain as we were getting on the bus to head home. Considering the weather we have had lately, we could not believe how lucky we were.
We know there would have been a lot of very tired children after they arrived home on Friday, as there was not much sleep that happened, however, we cannot even begin to explain how extremely proud we are of them all. For most, it was their very first night away from home, for others, they were trying new activities that they had never participated in before and for all, they were put into different activity groups, cabin groups and trivia groups where they may not of been with their close friends.
Everyone had such a wonderful time, and we hope that this camp has made you excited for any future camps to come.
A huge thank you to all the parents and staff that left their own families to come along on camp, as without you we could not have gone.
