Teachers Learning and Collaboration

A highlight of this year for our teaching teams is the opportunity to be able to work together to support our students in their learning.

This year we have had several Professional Learning Communities (PLC) operating across the college focussing on the learning needs of students. We have really focused on tier 3 vocabulary and the 6 + 1 writing traits especially in years 7-10. In addition to this, the Senior School focused on subject area learning communities using VCE and VCAL data to focus on curriculum and assessment.

We really love the PLC process because we use student work as data to set goals and strategies for improvement. It also is a great opportunity for teachers to commit to evidence-based decision making in trialling strategies for improvement. Sharing knowledge and expertise in our learning areas really does make a difference to our student learning.

Our work to date culminated in a celebration on Thursday after school  whereby each PLC provided an exhibition of their student work and staff had the opportunity to discuss the process and outcome of the learning growth.
