From the Principal

In the spirit of reconciliation I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We at Mornington Secondary College pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Term 4 is always an exceptionally busy term. It began with many of our Yr 10 students travelling to the Grampians for a 3 day Outdoor Ed camp whilst other students participated in the Southern Metropolitan Athletics.

We farewelled our Yr 12 students during a whole school assembly, followed by the Valedictory celebrations held at the Baptist Church on Craigie Road. The Yr 12 Dreamcatchers said goodbye and thankyou to their mentors. Many participated in external exams and are now waiting for their results to be published.

A Tokyo online exchange occurred with our students studying Japanese and Japanese students studying English. Students enjoyed a lunch together (online) and asked questions of each other in both English and Japanese. A great experience for all students involved.

Year 9 students enjoyed their time at the Docklands having fun ice skating, ten pin bowling or Artvo.

The annual Art show was a great success and some pieces have been selected to be hung at the Mornington Rotary Art show, in January.

Remembrance day was recognised with a whole school assembly run by our newly appointed College Captains, Eden Parry and Jessica Randall and our Vice Captain, Hamish O’Shea. Many local organisations and associations joined us to remember all who participated in armed conflict.

Mornington Secondary College also participated in a school review, facilitated by Anita Forsyth from Monash University. All government schools are reviewed every 4 years. Recommendations are made and a School Strategic Plan is developed for the next 4 years. Thankyou to the many staff, students and parents who participated.

Fast Forward begins 1st December. All students have been provided with their subjects and teachers are busy preparing for the new year. Teachers will participate in a Professional Planning Day, 25th November. Students are required to stay home and complete outstanding work.

Thankyou for your ongoing support.
