2023 FEE SCHEDULE

Due to the pandemic, over the past two years the cost of camps has not been included in the fee schedule but have been billed to families separately and in addition to their school fees.

In 2023 the cost of all year level camps, together with excursions, sporting events and any other outings, have been included in the Resource & Activities levy so that the annual fee invoice will be inclusive of all costs for the year (with the exception for any interstate or overseas trips).

For families who are struggling financially, BHCS may be able offer assistance through our Fee Assistance Program. Should you require such assistance, please contact schoolfees@bhcs.vic.edu.au to request an application form (please note that there is an application process and conditions apply).

BUS APPLICATIONS 2023

Bus Applications for 2023 are now closing. Should you wish to apply to use the school bus or shuttle service for 2023 please complete the attached application form and send to buses@bhcs.vic.edu.au by Monday, 24th October.

THUNDERSTORM ASTHMA INFORMATION

Thunderstorm asthma — be prepared this pollen season

Grass pollen season, which runs from October to December each year, brings an increase in asthma and hay fever symptoms. It also increases the risk of thunderstorm asthma. For people with asthma or hay fever, especially those who experience wheezing or coughing with their hay fever, thunderstorm asthma can be sudden, serious and even life threatening.

BHCS will implement a range of measures to keep our school community safe when the risk of thunderstorm asthma increases.

Many of our staff are trained in asthma first aid, and we will monitor the VicEmergency app to receive thunderstorm warnings, and, where appropriate, keep students indoors when weather forecasts identify greater levels of risk.

How you can prepare

During pollen season, there are some things you can do to prepare and protect yourself and your family:

  • If your child has ever had asthma: talk to your doctor about what you can do to help protect your child from the risk of thunderstorm asthma, including updating your asthma action plan. Taking an asthma preventer properly and regularly is key to preventing asthma, including thunderstorm asthma.
  • If your child has hay fever: see your pharmacist or doctor for a hay fever treatment plan and check if you should have an asthma reliever puffer. These are available from a pharmacy without a prescription.
  • If your child has hay fever and experiences wheezing and coughing: it is important to make sure they don’t also have asthma. Speak to your doctor about an asthma action plan.
  • Where possible, avoid being outside during thunderstorms from October to December, especially during the wind gusts that come before the storm. Go inside and close your doors and windows. If you have your air conditioning on, turn it to ‘recirculate’.

Protect yourself this pollen season – managing asthma and allergies matters.

Remain vigilant for COVID-19

It is important for students to manage any hay fever or asthma symptoms, as these conditions can produce symptoms such as fever, chills, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, and loss or change to sense of smell or taste, which are similar to COVID-19 symptoms.

If your child experiences these symptoms in different or worse ways to their usual hay fever or asthma symptoms, medical advice should be sought.

CONGRATULATIONS BEN C, WILL G, MITCH G & ISAAC S

Congratulations to four of our Year 12 students who recently won their U19 Premier Division Football Grand final with Emerald Senior Football Club.

Ben C, Will G, Mitch G and Isaac S, who have been good mates for many years at Belgrave Heights Christian School, played together for Emerald U19's against Upwey Tecoma at Gembrook.

It was a tough game with Emerald absolutely dominating Upwey Tecoma from the first bounce. Ben kicked 3 goals from impressive marks. Will was excitingly quick and lightning on his feet. Mitch was amazing in defence keeping Upwey Tecoma goalless until half time and Isaac gave bone crunching, vice-like tackles. Emerald ran away with a five goal win in the end and celebrated a 55 to 25 final score.
