TERM FOUR, WEEK ONE ARRANGEMENTS

Monday 3/10/2022 to Friday 7/10/2022

Hi parents/Guardians,

This is a special newsletter to provide information to our community now that the building works have started. To give some context, the construction company came during the holidays to set up and start putting their infrastructure in place – fencing, signage, and safety barriers. Unfortunately, this work was interrupted due to a small amount of asbestos found under the corridor subfloor. The site is now clear of asbestos, and the constructor can safely proceed with their building works.

Now that we are returning to school tomorrow, what can you expect?

SCHOOL ACCESS

Gate Access

Students and parents can only access the school grounds from the main entrance gateThe land gate is closed due to the temporary fence across the school oval.

Driveway Gate Access

Pedestrian access through this gate is banned until further notice. We realise this is a convenient shortcut, but given our current circumstances, we ask parents and students not to access the school grounds via these gates.

BIKE STORAGE

Bike storage will be available along the lane fence boundary once the temporary fence has been removed and the lane gate is accessible. Storage of bikes will be along the wall outside the 2/3 rooms opposite the current car park. Bikes will need to have an individual bike lock as the school does not accept liability if a bike is stolen while stored on school grounds and is stored at the owner’s risk.

MAIN OFFICE ACCESS

The new temporary office is situated in the staffroom. Access to this building is from the rear door of the building. New signage will be erected this week to guide visitors to this area.

ISSUES WE ARE CURRENTLY DEALING WITH

Communication with school & staff – SENTRAL & Telephone

We understand that SENTRAL is down. We believe this outage may be related to the electrical and data works being redirected to the primary office. Likewise, our telephone system may also be affected during these works turning the staffroom into our main admin office. Once we believe our communication system is fully operational, we will inform the community through the newsletter and SENTRAL.

IMPORTANT FOR SCHOOL

If parents have an urgent matter to inform the school of, please email your concern to the school’s email address. In the subject line, please clearly state the concern and, if possible, to whom the matter should be addressed.

Main Office Access in person

As mentioned, the office will be closed for in-person matters until Wednesday unless it is an urgent matter directly related to administration.

The main office will be temporally closed until Wednesday [5/10/2022] for all parent access, unless for urgent or confidential matters. This will provide staff with the necessary time to set up and be operational as soon as possible.

STUDENT PLAY AREAS

Student play areas will be significantly restricted this term. Once the portable is fully operational, the temporary fencing will be removed, and students will have access to the oval area around Building C’. Students will continue to access the quadrangle and the sensory play area outside the Foundation classrooms.

Once the Cases building has been removed from the site, this area will become the staff carpark. The existing staff carpark will become an additional asphalt area for the students to access sometime this term.

PICK UP & DROP OFF

Foundation/1 Students

Students will need to be dropped off and collected outside their classrooms. Drop off & collection of students in Rob and Daisy’s classrooms will be from the middle door of Building C. We expect the first week of term to see Rob and Daisy’s classes share the OOSHC space until the classroom is fully operational.

2/3 classes

No change to existing arrangements.

4/5/6 classes

No change to existing arrangements

OUT-OF-SCHOOL HOURS CARE [OOSHC]

OOSH will operate as usual but share the space with the two F/1 grades – Rob & Daisy for week one of term four.

As mentioned previously, this newsletter is to provide relevant information so we can start term four as smoothly as possible. More detailed information will be provided as we establish the long-term requirements for students, parents, and teachers.

I appreciate your cooperation during this time.

Thank you
