St. Peter’s College Cranbourne Campus - Art, Design and Technology Exhibition 2022

We acknowledge that these works were created on the land of the Bunurong people of the Kulin nation. We pay our respects to these people, their elders, their ancestors and their leaders: past, present and emerging and, as a Catholic community, we continue the journey of reconciliation in the hope that all people in Australia will live together in forgiveness, hope, love and peace.

After two years of virtual exhibitions due to the global pandemic, the annual Art, Design & Technology Exhibition was welcomed back in its original form. The event was the first physical exhibition of student works to be held in the new Arts Precinct Building. When consulted on the design of this building back in 2018, one of the key concepts was that it should not only be a collaborative learning space but also be a space to display student works. The exhibition showcases works produced throughout the 2022 academic school year by Year 7 to Year 12 students who study in the field of Digital Technologies, Design & Technologies, Visual Arts, Visual Communication Design and Media.

Students were excited to see their work and the work of their friends exhibited for all to see and a sense of excitement was shared amongst the families who attended to see their children be recognised for their talent and creative pursuits. Celebration of award winners for Years 7 -12 echoed throughout the art spaces with special attention given to the most coveted Peter Young Design Technology Award recipient.

Peter Young Award for Technology

The Peter Young Award for Technology is given to a Design & Technologies student who has achieved excellence in their chosen field. Peter Young was a founding teacher at St. Peter’s College in the Technology Faculty and the award was struck when he finished his teaching time here. The prize is in the form of a certificate and monetary funds that go towards materials to continue the student's technology studies. The Principal judges this award with the Technology Learning & Teaching Coach and with input from Design & Technologies teachers.

The Cranbourne Campus 2022 recipient is Year 11 VCE Product Design and Technology student Liam Foggo for his table lamp. The overarching theme of this project was sustainability in the product design process. A comprehensive design folio was completed and the lamp was manufactured using plantation grown timber, energy efficient LED and 100% recycled plastic. The recycled plastic was manufactured on site by Year 11 students. Liam showed perseverance and care to create a light that is both highly functional and beautiful in its simplicity despite the complexity of its design and construction.
