Room 17 Artists:

Room 17 children have worked tirelessly over two weeks to complete our Henri Rousseau-inspired artwork, so I thought you could share their amazing mahi.

Inspired by our Inquiry studies on animals, we decided to create a piece of art influenced by French artist Henri Rousseau. Here are the steps we took to complete this artwork.

1. Looked at the works of Henri Rousseau and discussed the main elements to include in our art

2. Painted an ombre background using acrylic paint (blending colours using a brush and sponge)

3. Drew on a tree and painted it

4. Cut out different leaf shapes in varying sizes (this took us a very long time)

5. Glued on each individual leaf to create trees/bushes

6. Coloured in an image of our chosen animal and then glued this on as our second layer 7. Our final layer was adding a grass border at the bottom

8. Named our artwork just like Henri Rousseau.
