In Auslan have been learning about handshapes!

Handshapes are equivalent to phonemes (unit of sound that distinguishes one word from another) in the alphabet. We have 26 letters in the alphabet, but 44 sounds. 

There are 62 handshapes and 39 CORE handshapes used.

Preps - 2 students have been inspired by Jeannie Baker books to learn about collage techniques.

MOSAICS

Senior students have been reviewing their knowledge of Mosaics.

Grade 3/4 activated their knowledge with a 2D mosaic of their own choice.

Grade 5/6 have started planning a 3D dragon mosaic, which will involve constructing an armature, applying magiclay as the grout and then fixing tiles.

Independent Instrument Program - Grades 3-6

Grades 3-6 students are learning their first of two selected instruments, using our custom made lessons. Students (and parents!!) are free to continue learning and practicing at home and can access the site here:

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Athletics

Athletics day is fast approaching and students are enjoying the practice leading up to the event. Athletics will be held on the 16th August at the La Trobe Athletics Track in Flora Hill.

We are still seeking volunteers to help out with the day. Thank you to all the parents who have already volunteered, Mr. Mann will be in contact with you as soon as the day has been organised. 

 

Netball

Division netball was held at the Bendigo Netball Complex on Wednesday 20th July. Both girls and mixed teams had a fun and exciting day. The girls getting two wins for the day while the mixed teams won one game. Both teams played amazingly and showed lots of Epsom sprit. Well done teams!
