Music Program

EXPRESS YOURSELF

On Thursday 23rd June our Music students and the entire Year 7 cohort enjoyed a fabulous incursion, delivered by “Musical Futures Australia”.  Our presenters and performers “Mantra” and “DJ Sizzle” performed to all our Year 7 students, delivering an inspiring and motivating showcase.

The “Express Yourself” workshop aimed at reigniting our students with the confidence to express themselves, especially after our COVID affected world, reigniting students with the passions and aspirations needed for them to succeed in life and especially after the difficulties we have all faced as a community in the last few years.

The Music program at Epping Secondary College is driven by the Musical Futures pedagogy, one that encourages student agency and self-expression through Music, whether it is performing as a soloist or as part of a group.

It is great to see the Music Industry, just like many, bouncing back to the stage and it is quite uplifting to see students in the classroom once again start enjoying their experiences of creating, making and presenting music to each other.

Congratulations to all the Year 7 students who participated in the workshop.  It was great to see students rapping to the songs, moving to the beats and celebrating the joys that comes with creating music through self-expression.  A special thanks to Musical Futures and all staff that supported the event.
