Year 7 Camp

Gundiwindi Lodge

(15/06/22 - 17/06/22)

Year 7 camp took place at Gundiwindi Lodge in the Yarra Ranges. We could not wait for the exciting activities to begin at our first high school camp.

Some of the best activities were the Giant Swing and the Flying Fox. The Giant Swing was a 16 metre high rope swing that was both terrifying and exhilarating. The scariest part was waiting at the top, high above the ground. The Flying Fox was over 100 metres long and the launch platform was extremely high. Stepping off the plank made us feel like we were jumping off a cliff. Some students were brave enough to go backwards and even upside down. It was so fast!

On the first night, we had a wildlife expert visit with amazing animals for us to meet. We got to touch huge snakes, a baby crocodile and lots of lizards. We learned about protecting endangered animals and how peaceful many of the animals are, even though many people are scared of them.

On the last day, the teachers made us wake up early so we can pack to go to Healesville Sanctuary Zoo. While we were there we saw koalas and we got to pet and feed wallabies. The also had an amazing show with many types of rare and endangered birds that flew through the crowd and right over our heads.

Thank you to all the teachers for organising and giving up their time to take us to camp.
