Year 8 Camp

Toolangi

(01/06/22 - 03/06/22)

Do you know what was the best thing about camp? It was hanging around with our friends. Quite literally we hung above the ground with our friends – swinging on the giant swing 15 metres in the sky and flying down a zipline at dizzying speeds.

The Year 8's spent 3 days at Camp Toolangi. The Camp was atop a peak in the Dandenong Mountain Range and was surrounded with trees as tall as the eye could see. Even though it was very cold, and I mean “MY FINGERS ARE GOING TO FALL OFF!” cold, we didn’t let it bother us that much. Mainly because we had such fun activities that distracted us, and I guess we did have delicious hot food.

The activities at camp consisted of Archery, Rock-climbing, Abseiling, High-Rope, Possum-Gliding, building and driving billycarts, and much more. These weren’t your normal activities, you wore a harness and would need to go at least over 10 metres off the ground! Possum-Gliding even had you being pulled up while your life was in the hands of your friends.

Now let’s move away from the physical activities and move back to the food, we had lots of amazing, delicious food, ranging from fruits to a whole baked potato, to cooked chicken. You had a full banquet of food 7 times a day. “The food is the best camp food ever, feeding us 7 times a day made it feel like heaven” Abdul Obeid stated.

On the 2nd last day of camp, we had a movie night where we watched Rush Hour 3, and I have to say, it was one heck of a night. Filled with snacks like cookies, scones, lollies, and some even brought sunflower seeds. That was the best movie night of the year.

With all of the fun activities, delicious food and fun nights, it was the best camp that a year 8 could ask for. Camp Toolangi is a definite #1 spot to go for school camp.
