What's happening in our

learning communities?

Presented by  Year 2 Classes

This term, Year 2 students have been learning about living things. We have been actively watching our mealworms transform from larvae to pupae and beetles; we have been amazed by our leaf insects laying eggs and observing them hatch; we have made 3-D models of the life cycle of a Darkling Beetle, we have eagerly researched, and made bug hotels and we have been excited by watching our wheat seeds germinate and grow into seedlings. We have planted the seedlings in our vegetable garden and hope to harvest the wheat during Summer.

To build upon our knowledge of living things, this week we welcomed a visit from Bugs and Slugs. Kris taught the students about vertebrates and invertebrates, provided plenty of opportunities to observe a variety of specimens and taught the students about etymology. Consequently, we now have some budding scientists.
