Gymnastics has continued into Term 3 in PE and most of the students have now participated in trampolining.
Jumping is a fun exercise and is used in many sports. It has many health benefits including developing endurance and strength. Jumping can be used in simple games such as skipping or hopscotch, jumping puddles, jump from rock to rock
or shell to shell at the beach or over lines
on paving.
It is easy to create a jumping game and test out length, height or accuracy. The kids will get a good feeling if they can see how they improve over time so sometimes it is a good idea to record the distance or height. In athletics an improvement with a run, jump or throw is called a personal best. These personal bests are highly valued by athletes but are also a very useful motivator with kids.
Kids really enjoy parents joining in with their games. See if you can all improve over time and most importantly have a few laughs and have fun as you do it.
