Great Southern Youth Art Award

I attended the opening of the Inaugural Great Southern Art Award last Friday night at the Albany Town Hall. The exhibition of local youth art is on for the next month. There were some creative and inspiring artworks on display including works by talented GSG students, Tian Bray, Sofia Bird, Henry Baker (pictured), Eliza McNeil-Hanna , Bethany Robertson, Adalyn Sharpe and Rachel Turner.

Didi Cusack, Year Twelve has her piece ‘Milk Glass Calling’ heading to the St Georges Art Award in Perth. This exhibition will open on 16 July and will be run until 24 July at St George's Cathedral in Perth.

Music - The VET Show

Congratulations to all of the musicians who played on Wednesday night at the VET Music show. It was great to see live music again and to have an audience. Matthew Walmsley's performance of Stable Song was really moving as was Ivy Moir’s bag pipe playing in the ACDC cover. The Year Eleven performance of John the Fisherman was especially memorable!

We were treated to the Year Twelves own composition Biscuits and Marmalade and Lizzie Hodgkinson’s beautiful rendition of the Waif’s Lighthouse. The evening finished with a cover of the Beatle’s Don’t Let Me Down

'Pizza Beats' is showcasing upcoming musicians from Year Ten on Thursday night. Thanks to Mr Fowler and Mr Burke for all their work in putting these shows on and good luck to students performing at the Town Hall on Friday night.
