PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Dear Families

Good Luck:

Our football team will represent us at the District level today. Good luck to the team and thank you to Jason Cole who will be coaching and the parents who will be there to support our students.

Canteen:

Details of how the canteen orders will be processed can be found on the Lunch Order Page in this newsletter.

  • Canteen will be trialled one day a week – Thursdays. (Friday was not available )
  • All orders will be online via the canteen operators platform. The office at school will not be able to process orders.
  • Obviously payment will also be online.
  • Lunches will be delivered in heat proof bags to retain the temperature.
  • Feedback from our families will dictate if the lunches are to continue. We have organised a 3 month trial.

Out of School Care:

Currently Cheryl has taken some leave. We obviously wish her well with this well earnt time. Kath has taken over the role and has worked extensively in the program before therefore the hand over has been extremely smooth.

Payments: The school council policy is to operate accounts in a positive position at all times. This enables the program to operate smoothly. If your account is not in a positive position please make a payment or see Kath to discuss.

The Government allocated Planning Day is scheduled for the first day of term 3. We envisage that the “extra” day onto the term break will equate to very few families needing care on the day.

If you do require care please see Kath or contact the office to inform us. The facility will not operate unless the numbers cover the costs involved so please inform us if the care is required.

School Council:

Our Council is due to meet next week. The parents and staff who sit on this council need our thanks for their time and efforts in this arena. The following are on the Council representing families and staff:

  • Parent Representatives: Tony Lee (President), David Meade (Vice President and Finance), Nicky Muxworthy, Kristy George, Evan Williams, India Hannam, Jo Cook, Domnhall McInerney.
  • Staff Representatives: Liam Clark, Amanda Galluccio, Sarah Jeffreys and myself.

Debating:

Jason Cole and Laura Stephenson have trained our 2 teams over the past weeks. This Wednesday is the scheduled first debate verses Bellaire at Chilwell. The debaters have always been an excellent representative of our school and their ability to debate others in front of an audience is equally impressive. Best of luck to the debaters and I look forward to their report.

Reports:

These important reflections and goal setting documents will go live next Monday. Please read and congratulate our students on their work so far. The reports and the accompanying i-can statements will also set goals for the remainder of the year.

i-can Statements:

A link and access details to these will be supplied next week . They also go live on Monday. Access is via SENTRAL using the families password.

These statements clearly show 3 aspects of your child’s learning in English and Mathematics:

  1. What has been achieved in both English and Mathematics.
  2. What is still being worked on.
  3. Future learning in both areas.

The reports will touch on both English and Mathematics but the i-cans delve deeper into the students learning. Both documents need to be looked at to gain a full picture of the learning.
