Sports Update

Horse Sports:

Earlier this week I sent home notes for Ashford Horse Sports on the 11th November. To compete in this event students need to be 8 or turning 8 years old this year. We will be taking a team of up to 16 students and all competitors need to be current members of PCANSW. If you have any further questions about this event, please contact me at the school.

Thank you

NSW PSSA Athletics Championships

Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th October saw Fletcher Barratt and Aila McBain compete at the NSW PSSA Championships at Sydney Olympic Park. These two athletes have proven themselves to be talented long distance runners and for the first time in athletics, tested their abilities against the rest of NSW.

Aila’s 1500m timed final was the first event for the day. It was a tough race. She placed 16th in her heat and placed 31st in the state for the Junior Girls event. She ran an excellent race and should be extremely proud of her effort.

Fletcher was next to run his 1500m timed final. He came 4th in his heat with a PB, knocking 14 seconds off his best time. This gave him a result of 8th in the state for the 11 yrs Boys. Wednesday afternoon he ran the 800m heat where he placed 10th fastest and also ran a PB. Top 9 went through to the final which meant he missed out by one place! Thursday morning he competed in the long jump. He placed 22nd out of 39 boys. His longest jump was 3.99m for the day.

Congratulations to Aila and Fletcher! We are very proud of these two students and wish them a well earned rest after months of hard work.

GALA Day (third time lucky)

After flooding rain last term, the ADPSC Gala Day (netball and soccer) has been rescheduled for Friday the 4th November (Week 4) in Tamworth for Stage 2 and 3 students. This is replacing the date that was earmarked for the touch football Gala Day, therefore, there will not be a Touch Football Gala Day this term.

A note has been sent out via Compass with the event details. Please accept or decline this event for your child this afternoon so that teams and travelling logistics can be organised. If you are unable to respond through Compass, please contact us at school so that we can help you with this.

Uniforms will be handed out to students next week. If your child is playing soccer and requires shin pads, the school has spare sets that they can use.

Fingers crossed the rain stays away and we get to have a fun day in Tamworth.
