Divisional Athletics Carnival

The Divisional Athletics Carnival was held on Tuesday 10th September. 31 Plenty Parklands’ students represented the Whittlesea division on this day (5 more than last year!). Of these students 11 have made it through to the Northern Metropolitan Regional level (which will be held on Wednesday 16th October at the Meadowglen Athletics International Stadium) by placing first or second in their event.  In addition to this,

14 of our students placed in third position which means that they are the first emergency who will be called upon if necessary.

Once again, we are very proud of the students who represented not only our school, but our district and division. Each student worked to their best level, continually showing our school values by supporting each other and encouraging and congratulating their competitors. Many students achieved their personal best results as well and for some students it was their first time competing at this level.

Thank you to each student, who not only trained hard in the lead up to the event but put their absolute best efforts in when competing on the day. Thank you also to their families and friends for supporting them, throughout their journey. Thank you to Mr Broadbent and to Mr Conlon for their commitment to the ongoing training of the students. Thanks again to Mr Broadbent and Mr Chris B (PST) for accompanying the students at the carnival, supporting them and ensuring that everyone got to their events on time.

Please note if your child placed first or second in their event and received a letter on the day, they have made it through to Regional level as mentioned above. You will need to provide transport for them to attend on Wednesday 16th October. More information will be sent home with your child this week.   Julie Gatt

Congratulations Christopher (6-1)

One of our Students, Christopher (6-1), has been training extra hard during the lead up to his State level Karate tournament last weekend. He competed in his own individual events and team kata. He has competed at state level before, but this is the first time that he has walked away with a Gold medal for his individual Kata and Kumite events! Not only this, but Christopher’s Junior Open Kata division team, who have been training at least 3 times a week together, were entered into a level which was higher than their own. They earned a gold in this event also, proving how hard the team have worked together. THREE gold medals at state level, what an achievement!! CONGRATULATIONS to Christopher for his dedication and hard work in the lead up to his tournament. All of us at PPPS are proud!
