LIBRARY REPORT

YEAR 7 BOOK BUYING ACTIVITY

In Term 1 Year 7 students recommended books to include in the library collection. The books were received, catalogued, covered etc.  On Thursday 4 May the books were taken up to A block where students were able to borrow them. The activity was very successful and virtually all of the books were lent out.  Students who didn’t get the book they chose are able to reserve it when they log in to the library catalogue.

WORLD BOOK ONLINE

The World Book online Encyclopaedia is widely used by students and can be accessed via the Library Catalogue homepage. To help students better use this online resource there is an online video tutorial which can be accessed at http://www.worldbook.com.au/forms-senior-training-webinar

PLEASE RETURN YOUR BOOKS!

Books borrowed by students are lent out for four weeks.  Overdue notices are regularly emailed to students.  Students can renew loans on line if they are not overdue.  Please check your email and if you have an overdue book return it ASAP.

ANNUAL SOFTLINK SCHOOL LIBRARY REPORT

The Australian and New Zealand School Library Survey, conducted by Softlink on behalf of the school library sector, examines key trends and issues impacting school libraries. Points for analysis include annual school library budgets and staffing levels, as well as the use of digital devices and digital resources in school libraries. The results help to advocate the role of school libraries and Teacher Librarians to education decision.  Softlink’s research continues to indicate a relationship between well-funded and well-staffed school libraries and student achievement. Since 2010, the annual School Library Survey results have revealed a positive correlation between higher NAPLAN literacy scores and two key library resourcing indicators – budgets and staffing levels.
