Year 7 & 8 Update

Matina Konstantinakos

I warmly welcome back the students, staff and parents to Semester 2 at John Fawkner College.

Our priority for the students and staff will be to ensure that this transition back to remote learning will be a positive experience and together, we will work through any of the challenges that may arise.

There was a real sense of excitement and anticipation about the return to school this term among our year 7 and 8 cohort. Although the return to onsite learning has been delayed we have seen outstanding resilience in our students re-connecting online and continuing to do their best with remote learning.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge the parents and guardians of our year 7 and 8 students for the time and efforts dedicated to supporting and engaging in this online learning model, particularly during these unprecedented times.

Friendly Reminders for Remote learning:

  • Students must ensure they are on time to class video's
  • Contact the school if you are having any technical difficulties
  • Students must conduct themselves in a respectful and mature manner
  • If you need help please contact your teachers
  • Keep striving for Values Cards
  • Please be familiar with the online code of conduct

ONLINE CODE OF CONDUCT

  • We make sure everyone feels safe online and is able to achieve, by focussing our comments on learning.
  • We respect our teachers’ work by joining lessons on time, staying muted until asked and avoiding visual distractions.
  • We continually improve by trying our best with all work that is set and communicating with our teachers if we need assistance.
  • Meeting participants use their camera when requested but mute their microphone when not speaking.

Until next time, stay safe and be kind
