PE AT HOME:
Well this has been a very interesting experience. Having been a teacher for over 30 years this is my first adventure into online PE teaching.
Our students and families have been amazing – finding all sorts of things around the home to use as PE props. Pair of Socks as balls, frypan as a bat, wooden spoons as a small bat, washing baskets for target practice and toys and pillows for obstacles. Our 60 second challenges have been a great hit! The Star Wars – May the Force be with You’ PE activity has fitted in well in Science Week!
Our grade 5/6 students have been keeping a fitness journal all term which will form part of their assessment. There are lots of different challenges included in this, covering a wide range of sports.
I can imagine how hard it is for students to sit and concentrate on laptops and ipads. It’s so important to get out and be active every day. I’ve been so impressed with the different activities families are undertaking.
Chatting with students at our meets, there are lots of walks and hikes to fun places happening locally. Basketball rings, bikes and footballs are getting a great workout! Many students have noticed the river rising on their walks on the Yarra.
You are all doing a fantastic job being healthy and active and having fun with your families!
Keep up the great work – I am missing working face to face with you.
