From the Principal's Desk

Janine Kinninment

Welcome back to Term 3 everyone. A special welcome to our 10 new students and their families. We now have 687 students enrolled at Burrendah PS.  Mr Evans has returned from long service leave and is teaching in our newly formed Year 5 /6 classroom in Room 2. I am very pleased how settled and hard at work students are across the school in this first week of term.

Parent Interviews

It was pleasing to see our parents/carers back on school grounds as a number of families attended scheduled parent interviews on Wednesday afternoon. Due to COVID-19 we planned for fewer interviews to be scheduled than normal, during our early close. If you were not part of these interviews and would like to have a future parent interview with your child’s teacher, please contact the teacher directly through Connect, to make a mutually convenient time.

Willetton SHS Work Experience

We have inducted more than 90 high school students this week. These students will be beginning their work experience alongside staff at Burrendah for approximately 8 weeks. I have already had a number of our teachers commenting on the fantastic start Willetton SHS students have made on their work experience in the classroom.

COVID 19-Phase 4 and 5

At present we are in Phase 4 with adults social distancing 1.5m from one another. Thank you to the parents and visitors to our school who are ensuring this distance is maintained between adults when on school grounds.

While parents/carers need to remain outside of the classroom in the mornings we will be opening classrooms up at selected times from next week for parents to enter. If entering a classroom or Reception adults need to ensure they sanitise their hands. If Phase 4 is further extended past the 1st August, adults will need to continue to remain 1.5m from other adults. Greetings still remain an elbow bump or foot tap, rather than a handshake. See the COVID-19 page update for further information.

Maintenance

As you can see from the picture above, our student toilet upgrade is progressing with Cygnet Block girls and Magpie Block boys toilets nearly completed. The new operative doors have been installed into selected classrooms and certainly, make a statement.
