What's been happening in Music?
F/1
Remote learning has given an opportunity to bring in more content about the orchestra - I hope that the children have enjoyed moving around and listening to the wonderful Carnival of the Animals. If parents are interested in accessing more local content related to instruments of the orchestra, the ABC has a lot of very good material. For example:
They are getting very good at identifying the sounds of the individual instruments - the latest is Kangaroos which uses the piano. I am looking forward to hearing them sing the new songs we are working on. Last week I got them to respond to the funny new song I Like Bananas with a picture based on the lyrics.
2/3
Recorder has been continuing very well. This week I asked the children to self-assess their progress with playing My Paddle and Long Legged Sailor. They made some very reflective comments and I will be asking them to upload a video of their playing soon. I hope they enjoyed the new songs I introduced to them over the last couple of weeks: The Laughing Gnome and Gumboots Song. These will be used in our Music lessons, along with Pink Shoelaces, which we learned last term.
4/5/6
Thanks to students in 4-6 for their responses over the last couple of weeks. Although we are not able to use the classroom instruments, last week the children were able to improvise the keyboard part on any instruments (keyboards, xylophones) or the template I sent. This week's activity had them recording a singing part to their class song that I will be editing together to make a combined audio track. Start thinking about which instrument you would like to play for our video recording!
2020 Concert
Planning for this year's concert has continued, with content being sorted out over the last couple of weeks. While the 4/5/6 Music items have been worked on since last term, the F/1 and 2/3 items will be confirmed over the next couple of weeks. Students from F-3 have been learning a lot of interesting new material and it will be put back to them as to what they would like to work on.
