Leadership Report

Dear Families,

We have made it through week 2 of remote learning! We have appreciated all the on-going feedback from families and encourage families to contact us at any time they need support. I would like to thank all members of the community for helping their children, the teachers for the way they have made adjustments to the program and to our students for their continual adaptability and resilience to change.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Another first for Newlands was completing our first ever Parent-Teacher interviews online. The feedback I have received from families was overwhelmingly positive. The main exciting takeaway for me was the strong teacher-parent relationships that are already in place. The conversations about student learning was very much a partnership. If there is one positive to take away from this ‘extraordinary’ experience is one of authentic triangular (student, teacher, family) engagement in learning.

Newlands Foundation 2021 Transition Night

Next Wednesday, is our 2021 Foundation Information night beginning at 7:00 p.m.

This is always a very exciting evening as we get to showcase our fantastic teachers, our schooling community and the amazing learning that takes place at our school. We have been very excited by the amount of interest the school has generated and we encourage families within our current community to remind families who plan on attending Newlands in 2021 to send in their expression of interest on our website, which provides access to the link for another first – our first virtual information session.

Parents and Friends Association Presents Lockdown Trivia

You may have already seen the messages sent out via SENTRAL, but next Friday the 7th of August will be a fun community event as we lock heads to see who is the greatest at trivia. Unfortunately, the teachers will be down its trivia star, the notable Ross, but we will be preparing for a great showing. The night begins at 8:00 p.m. and finishes at 9:30 p.m. All you need to do is click this link to register to play. If you need more information, please contact one of the fantastic members of the PFA.

School Council/Sub Committees

Wednesday night,  the school council met for the third time this year. I would like to thank not only the members from the school council but all of the members from the many different school sub-committees that work tirelessly in ensuring that Newlands Primary School is the best learning environment for everyone within the school community. We appreciate your commitment and passion to making the Newlands the best school it can be.

Have a fantastic weekend,

Luke
