Welcome Back

Welcome back everyone for term 3. We hope you had a good term break, especially with some of the beautiful sunny days we have had. As we face another period of remote and flexible learning we know that some of you will need to draw upon every iota of energy and enthusiasm to find the spark to get going again. This is a very tough gig, for you, for staff, for everyone, and most especially for our Launch kids. Drawing upon our school values will get us through, especially as we know our school community is strong and united and will work hard to ensure everyone is cared for and connected. Together we’ll put our safety, health and well-being first to ensure our families, friends and staff are protected and supported.

Remote Learning

Each family’s situation is different. The needs and priorities of your children and yourselves as carers, who may or may not also be working remotely, are varied and broad. In designing the learning program for this next period of remote learning, we have endeavoured to take this feedback into account where it was a recognised commonality within the feedback. Families have been forthcoming with feedback about what the experience looks like for their individual circumstances which has been very helpful. Additionally, last term we talked with our students about their experience of remote learning. We felt their voice had not yet been captured and this was the piece that was missing as we tweaked the plan for this upcoming stage.

Once again in Term 3, we need to provide the most flexible remote learning program possible so that it caters for the needs of all groups within our school community. Each day your child/ren will continue to be provided with 3-3.5 hours of learning for Literacy and Numeracy, and three specialist lessons per week. This remains the advice of the Department of Education.

We remind families that for students who are permitted to learn on-site, that is, students of parents who are not at home to supervise their child, or who are vulnerable or have an identified additional learning need, the program will be presented in exactly the same way, utilising the remote learning program.

Social Distancing

We’d like to remind everyone to please ensure that we are all following appropriate social distancing etiquette in the areas around the school at drop off and pick up times as far as possible. We care about our community and want to ensure you all stay safe!

The greatest risk of transmission in the school environment is between adults. It is of utmost importance that parents/carers maintain physical distancing at school; 1.5 metres is still the recommendation. At this point parents/ carers are still not permitted on the school grounds.

Canteen and Breakfast Club

Canteen and Breakfast Club have been cancelled until further notice. Thank you for your understanding.

Enrolments - 2021

Do you have a sibling starting at LPPS in 2021? Have you completed and returned an enrolment form? Enrolments are being accepted now for next year. Please help us to confirm numbers for 2021 by contacting the office to confirm your intentions to enrol for next year. This year the enrolment process has changed - there is a new process for schools in the Outer East. All enrolments need to be in by August 7th. Please find a copy of the new transition/ enrolment guidelines and term 4 transition dates attached.

Communication

As we return to Remote Learning, we ask families to ensure they read all communications, including this newsletter, Compass and emails. Please ensure that your details are up to date.

A Final Word

We cannot express our appreciation to every family enough for the way you fulfilled the role of learning supervisor during the period of remote learning in Term 2. We know remote and flexible learning programs cannot ever replace the learning environment of a socially vibrant, engaging classroom. Nevertheless, it has assisted in keeping our kids and teachers connected in some way during this period of isolation and distance. Despite its challenges and frustrations, families have reflected upon the opportunity it has provided for them to reconnect with their child as a learner and find out more about learning approaches and strategies. We know that we will once again provide the best opportunities possible for our kids in term 3.
