Middle School Report

Message from the Director of  Learning - Mr Tom Tahos

I want to congratulate all Middle School students and staff for the way they have enthusiastically returned to onsite learning this term.

Keep up the great work!

‘Headstart’ begins in a couple of weeks, when all students will move up a year level and participate in learning to support their 2021 transition to new classes.

To all staff and students, who are moving from the Middle School, thank you for all your efforts and, on behalf of the Middle School team, I wish you all the very best.

Remember to sanitise your hands regularly and follow Government Guidelines.

Keep smiling and stay safe.

Programs During Remote Learning

We had a variety of programs throughout remote learning, and again, a big thank you to all students and staff who helped organise and run events, and, those who participated.

MIND BODY PEDAL PROGRAM

All Year nine girls participated in the MIND BODY PEDAL Program earlier this term.

This occurred for the first time (like a lot of other programs), online.

Students were involved in workshops relating to mental health, bike maintenance and Yoga.

Thank you to all Year 9 girls who participated.

The overall theme was about empowering young women to become more active.

Year 9 Global Literacy

This term, all Year 9 students participated in scripted mock trials as part of their Global Literacy Civics & Citizenship unit. Students were provided with a fictitious criminal case and each student was assigned a courtroom role to act out as part of their learning of Australia’s legal system. Students took on roles as barristers, witnesses, clerks and jury members. They had to research their role in the court system, perform the duties of their role during the courtroom trial, and reflect on their experience. Students not only developed their learning of the Australian judicial system but also improved their communication, teamwork, and public speaking skills.
