In the Library - Science Week 2020
It's been a great week sharing stories and information including new resources purchased to support the learning around the theme this year.
The students have had a wonderful time wandering around the library avoiding the dangling jellyfish.
Thankyou to Mrs Dickie for the mobile "Treasure Chest" seen below.
One very special resource is "Ocean" by Helene Druvert and Emmanuelle Grundmann. It is a fact-filled journey through the underwater world. Not only were we intrigued by animals that can "light themselves up" but also marveled at the beauty and complexity in the construction and presentation of the text itself.
Ask your child what they liked most about this particular resource.
LIBRARY BAGS LIBRARY BAGS LIBRARY BAGS
Parents, a few students are STILL not presenting with a library bag.
Parents of PRIMARY students: when you come for Parent/Teacher Interviews in the Auditorium there will be a box full of calico library bags. Please purchase one for your child if they do not have a library bag. These can be purchased for $1.00. It will be an honesty system and there will not be provision for change of large notes.
LIBRARY BAGS MATTER
Not just some of the time but all of the time.
No food or drink on my books
Food and drink is for the chooks
Library bags keep ‘em clean
Books are cool don’t treat ‘em mean.
Bring your bag everytime
Fill it up and get in line.
Have it scanned and scoot on out
LIBRARY BAGS
We all shout

BOOK WEEK 2020
Monday 19 to Friday 23 October TERM 4
"Curious Creatures, Wild Minds"
NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH
Revised "Disco" information will be released next week in keeping with recent Covid-19 directives.
BOOK FAIR
Unfortunately adults will not be permitted to enter school grounds and therefore entry to the BOOK FAIR will not be happening. But do not despair I will be in consultation with Scholastic Book Fairs to ensure online payments can be easily done and students still receive the best experience from this always much anticipated event. Stay tuned.
Town Library Visits also make up part of the activities surrounding Book Week.
Thank you to Amy from the Town Library who will be looking to provide us with some contact perhaps via Zoom and a surprise initiative.
PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE 2020
Not long now... 5 DAYS TO GO
WELL DONE to the students who have already completed the Premier's Reading Challenge. The Challenge concludes on 25th August.
The students who have completed the Challenge feature on our library PRC "trees" and the trees are growing and flourishing as I write this.
***Particular students have been issued with a note regarding verification of books read especially through the remote learning period. This note is to be returned to the library on or before next Monday, 24th August, for the student to be eligible to complete the Challenge. Thank you for your support.
