The Yarrabah Show!

Wearing a Mask Social Story

Alyssa (Student Voice Leader) helped to put this together to use across school.

It has some basic points to share about masks.

The pleasing outcome of this story being developed is that she is now feeling more comfortable about masks and why they are needed. She thought it may help lots of other students too.

Yarrabah Work Skills Program

As a part of our work skills program in the secondary school, we have an exciting new partnership forming with a local sustainable organisation Man Rags, reusing, re-purposing and recycling old socks.

Students will have the opportunity to practice their work skills both at school and potentially on site in the local Braeside factory setting.

Paired old socks will be washed, sorted and sent to third world countries.

Single socks and holey socks will be shredded and made into brand new funky ones.

We are asking for your support by dropping off your old unwanted socks either -

1. Into the Pink “Sock Bins” located at the front and back of Yarrabah school during student pick up and drop off times.

2. Send them with your child to their Homeroom.

They will then be collected, laundered and sorted at Yarrabah then taken to the Man Rags factory for packaging and distribution.

Any questions please contact Bek Sibenaler or Lisa Wilson.

Thank you Telstra

The Yarrabah community would like to thank Telstra for its wonderful donation of $1200. Yarrabah submitted a grant application through Telstra's community program. We were very happy to have the grant approved by Telstra to purchase a wonderful 4-wheel pedal cart.

The pedal cart will initially be used by Seniors as part of their bike program, with other students to be included in future to help with their self-regulation.

Students had great fun this week building the smart looking Jeep.
