Learning Progress Meetings

On Tuesday August 4th and Wednesday August 5th, the Junior School Learning Progress meetings will be held.  COVID 19 and the Term Two Remote Learning Program have meant a number of changes to our normal reporting and parent/teacher meeting schedules. Mrs. Povey will be taking bookings up until Wednesday, July 29th. There are two options available to parents- phone interviews or Team interviews. As laptops are in use by students on a daily basis, Teams meetings will need to be conducted on a home device. The Teams App can be downloaded onto phones or a range of home devices.

Year 5 ‘LittleScribe’

Our Year 5 students have been accessing ‘Littlescribe’, a new online writing program the Junior School is piloting in 2020. They have been working with author Katrina McKelvey on a joint text ‘Farmer Charlie and Chicken Chasers’. Littlescribe transforms handwritten illustrated work into digital books and hard copy books. Littlescribe creates purpose for a child’s writing and provides the ability for children to read and reflect on their own work. Literacy is the bedrock of education and Littlescribe connects key writing skills and literacy skills in a meaningful and engaging way. Digital books are added to the Megabonkeramus Library, Littlescribe’s very own online library of books by children for children. Children’s books can be kept private and accessible to only them and their families, or available in a library for their class, school, or for all other children to read in the Megabonkeramus Library. Students are also able to share their work with their family and friends, and create their very own online book clubs to enjoy each other’s work in a safe and secure environment. Littlescribe allows students and teachers to print physical copies of their books for use in the classroom, to take home to their families, and to share with their loved ones to establish a sense of pride and achievement in learning.

Pizzicato Strings

Our Pizzicato Strings program is an important aspect of the Junior School’s Music offering. The program will recommence next Tuesday, July 28th. The students will be bused up to the MPAC building at the start of lunch, and will take part in a ‘socially distanced’ rehearsal with Mrs. Wear and Mr. Singh on the Simons Auditorium stage. They will be bused back to the Junior School at 1.45 pm.
