Solomon

Welcome to  New Students

What another great start to the year it has been for the mighty Solomon House. It started back on 28 January when we welcomed our newest additions. Over 70 students came into Solomon House and I was very proud to see the way our senior students welcomed them into not only the House but the College.

These new additions to the College were formally welcomed along with their families on the “Meet the Tutor Night.” This evening was a great success and it was very pleasing to see the Solomon tutors and parents meeting in an informal manner and being officially welcomed to the senior College.

We are very lucky to have such great, generous and professional tutors at the College. The Solomon tutors Mr Moses, Ms Ryan, Mr Harker, Ms Maclean, Ms Dux, Ms Dolbel, Mr Beaumont, Mr Kelliher, Mr Jacobs and Mr Martyn are all exceptional tutors who do an amazing job.

Focus Areas

Punctuality, organisation and wearing the correct uniform are key indicators students are focussed and prepared for attending the College.  This will continue to be an area of focus for all Solomon students throughout the year.

For Term 2, a reminder that all students must wear their College Blazer to and from the College.  With Melbourne’s inclement weather it is also recommended that students purchase a St Bede's College waterproof jacket and bring an umbrella in their school bags.

Another focus area for Term 2 is completing quality homework. The students are encouraged to get into a consistent routine that involves doing study uninterrupted every night.

Solomon Leaders

I would like to congratulate the Solomon Leaders Jake Rositani (Captain) and Tien Du and Andrew Wilson (Vice-Captains) who do an excellent job leading by example. We also have Tutor Group Captains, Well done to Kyle Conway, Sam Bunn, Kyran Hymers, Will Sedgwick, Andrew Lynch, Breno Glennon, Nick Borazio, Liam Fisher, Angus Nicholson, Dylan O’Keeffe and Jonathon Selhorst who were selected by their peers to lead from the front in Tutor Group Leadership session 1.

Mission Action Day

I would also like to congratulate Solomon students, family and friends who contributed an amazing  $ 9,878.90  to Mission Action Day. This money is used by the Lasallian Foundation in Australia and countries like India and Thailand to feed, educate and build shelter for the disadvantaged.

The Lasallian Foundation does amazing work and it is these very generous donations that help to make it possible.  Well done to all students who raised money.

After a very successful Term 1 we now look forward to an even busier Term 2 with camps, work experience, Founder’s Day and exams just to highlight a few major events.
