Principal's Message
The commencement of Term 2 offers parents the opportunity for Parent/Teacher Interviews. The interviews allow parents and teachers an opportunity to discuss your son’s academic progress. It is an opportunity to review goals, study habits and class application. Hopefully most parents take the opportunity to organize a time with the different teachers. Thanks to all parents who take this opportunity to support your son.
A very big ‘THANK YOU’ to all students and parents for your support with our Mission Action Day fund raising. The student body have raised some $91,000+ which is most pleasing. The monies raised supports the following: The work of the Lasallian Foundation, our volunteer programs to Thailand and India and our twinned school in PNG. Two groups of Year 11 students go to Thailand and will each spend 2 weeks there in the term break building toilets for the Parmenie school while the Year 12s at the end of the year will build houses in India. The monies raised are well used and the College is grateful for the wonderful support of families, parishes and friends.
It was wonderful to see the improvement in athletics this year where the College came second overall at the recent ACC carnival. St Bede’s College was successful in the Intermediate section which is good for the future. Congratulations to all team members and coaches and hopefully in 2017 we will be in number 1 position.
Football and soccer are the focus for the term and we wish all the teams the best of luck for the season. It is good to see the number of players who have tried out for the different teams.
It is also the season for public speaking and debating and St Bede’s College has maintained a high standard over the past years and we wish the boys all the best for the 2016 season.
Rehearsals are well underway and we are looking forward to an excellent production later in the year.
While it is still warm which is wonderful we have moved to winter uniform. With the advent of colder weather, we all need to be well prepared for the cold weather. We have been very clear that there are no variations to the winter uniform. I would ask all parents to make sure your son has the correct uniform when the cold weather strikes.
Hopefully most students have had the flu shot. To ensure health and safety here are couple of helpful points:
