From the Co-Principals
Introduction
A new school year brings renewed energy, hopes and expectations for all. This year was no exception as we commenced as Co-Principals of Kilbreda College. This is a very exciting time for us as Co-Principals, as we build upon the outstanding foundation of previous principals and in particular most recently Ms. Mary Stack. We are proud to be leading the Kilbreda Community and have been heartened by the warm welcome we have received by all.
The College theme for 2016 is Welcome all, in particular the most vulnerable. Inspired by the Brigidine Sisters, through their authentic leadership and role modelling, we are called to act with compassion and for justice. There is a proud tradition of commitment to social justice that we are sure many past pupils have experienced and through this experience have continued to be inspired to act for justice since leaving the College.
Schools are always evolving and it is important that we continue to do so. The new Kildare Centre (opened in December 2015) is an obvious sign of change. We hope this building opens the way for new learning as we prepare our students for an unknown future, in an unknown world. It is important that we develop independent thinkers, collaborative learners and creative problem solvers. Our Master Plan is being developed to ensure that we can provide our students with innovative, flexible and contemporary learning spaces.
We have had several opportunities to meet past pupils and have been overwhelmed by their love of Kilbreda and their time here at the College. On several occasions we have had three generations of Kilbreda girls present at functions. We value the importance of keeping connected to past pupils and the significant role you play in keeping the Kilbreda story alive. We look forward to providing further opportunities for you to be involved in the College. Please know that once a Kilbreda girl, always a Kilbreda girl; you are always welcome here!
We look forward to the years ahead as we lead Kilbreda College with a genuine passion for girls’ education in a faith context and a commitment to service. We thank the members of the Past Pupils’ Network Committee, chaired by Denise Leonard, for their efforts to further develop the Network and look forward to its continued growth.
Our very best wishes,
Teresa Lincoln & Nicole Mangelsdorf
