Visual Arts

The Foundation students have been working on sewing in the last few weeks. I am sure you have seen their fantastic finger puppets that they took home. The students did a great job on these, and I was very impressed on how independent they were in working on this task.

The Juniors have been making Pom-Pom Monsters which will be completed and ready to take home with their sewing bags next week.

The Middle students have also been sewing and creating pillows. They look great.

The Senior students have been completing their Street Art Skateboards and have also started working on their Teddies and sewing an outfit for them.

Christmas is fast approaching and in the coming weeks we will be doing some fun, festive and creative Christmas activities.

Thank you for your continuous and generous donations.

Science

I can't believe we're coming to the end of another fantastic term of learning! Every single term I think that the current science area of learning is my favourite and then we start a new area and I think that  one is my favourite. That can definitely be said for our learning around Physical Sciences this term. The students have had a ball with practical investigations and have extended their knowledge along the way.

The Foundation students have been looking at the properties of different objects and what allows them to roll or not roll. They have even manipulated their own bodies to roll in different ways. Luckily, humans are very flexible and can make curved surfaces out of our bodies.

Junior School students have had some amazing fun learning about how push and pull forces work together by making a balloon launcher! They did a great job in both making and using the launchers and in explaining the science behind the investigation.

Middle School students have been busy exploring forces, themselves. Taking their learning and scientific understanding to the next level they investigated how the size of the force impacts the movement of an object. It was fantastic to see them accurately recording and transferring their results to a graph.

Senior School students have continued to learn about energy and the focus in the last couple of weeks has been on renewables. Students planned and undertook an investigation to see how hydro power works. They worked in terms to build a water wheel which they used to lift a weight. Added variables included changing the number of water blades (plastic spoons) to see what impact, if any, that had on the lift speed.
